The Junior Dominion

Dear Little People,— It is such a cold morning and all the letters seem to be full of frosts or mountains—not very warming subjects, are they? You are all noticing the signs of winter round about you. When one has to spend .one’s days in the heart of fl city, there are few signs, and of these, one of the surest is frozen toes and warmth that comes not from the pale sunlight, but from the great black pipes of heaters. Still, I feel very thankful that Ilam not a centipede with one hundred feet to keep warm, and I am always sorry for the handsome bachelor centipede who had ninety-nine bedsocks and couldn’t find anyone who would knit him the last one. Have you read 'that story? It would do nicely for our Winter Page, wouldn’t it?' Yes, we are going to have a Winter Page, full of interesting facts and fancies. I want you to think of all the jolly things . there areto do on winter evenings—descriptions of winter scenes, or anything else you like-—and write fo'me'.about them. Those who live near a mountain might possibly manage to send photos of “fun in the snow." We’ll aU try to make it a 'bright, cheery, wintery page. ■ .. :■ lam feeling so pleased with our versemakers. The poems they sent were tremendously good, as you will agree when you have read them. Although there were no outstanding entries this time, the work generally was of a good standard, whichisfar better than “up's and downs," isn’t it? Congratulations, versemakers! ( —KIWI.
