“VERY PROUD OF YOU”

Popular County Chairman

Mr. E. Windley, chairman of • the Makara County Council and chairman of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board, has received the’.following, tribute from a number of the ratepayers of Makara County:— "We cannot let the present opportunity pass without making our humble contribution to tho eulogy that is being bestowed On you throughout the country, the areas under the jurisdiction of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board, Highways, Hospital, and Charitable Aid Board. We can only very inadequately express our feelings of gratitude for what you and your councillors have done for the ratepayers, and we appreciate your service very much. “Wo are jubilant over your being elected to the position of chairman of the Electric Power Board, and the wisdom of the county councillors in again electing you as their chief. We are not very demonstrative, and just say, “Well, done, good and faithful one; may you reap greater reward and honour in the near future,* and join in offering you our heartiest congratulations, and feel confident that economic difficulties that appear will be surmounted by you. We have watched your progress in county matters for years, and have observed your devotedness to the work and how you strive at all times to preserve our interest. We have seen your untiring efforts and wise administration, and look with confidence to tho future of tho county and the progress of the electric power board. “When advancing mechanical progress in industry brought us a new means of transport which threatened us with disaster so far as our roads were concerned, you assiduously cultivated the progressive spirit, and imparted it to those around you, whereby new and up-to-date methods were adopted and success achieved. “Occasions have arisen when Important State functions have demanded your presence as representative of your people; we have seen you and your good lady take your places among tho best in the land, and perform your duty with elegant courtesy and graceful dignity. We are very proud of you.”
