To continue her homeward loading, the Shaw. Savill steamer Mahana arrived at Wellington early yesterday afternoon from New Plymouth and berthed at the King's Wharf. She is to leave again on Tuesday for Auckland to fill up and is scheduled to salt finally from there on June 23 for Halifax and London, via the Panama Canal.

The Union Company’s tanker Otokia, which berthed at Miramar yesterday morning to discharge about 8000 tons of fuel-oil from San Pedro, is expected to leave again to-day for Auckland, where she will complete discharge. The vessel will then dock at Auckland before returnin- to San Pedro to load a further cargo of” fuel-oil for Wellington.

WHITE STAR LINE MANAGEMENT CHANGES Acting upon medical advice, Mr. Harold A. Sanderson has resigned his directorship of the White Star Line and the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company, and the board has appointed in his place Mr. William R. Roberts, who has been manager of the company in Liverpool since December, 1928. Mr. Roberts was formerly a director and general manager of the Leyland Line (an associated company), and on his transference to the White Star Line, he was appointed to a seat on the Liverpool board. He retained, however, his directorship of the Leyland Line. „ The White Star Line also announces that Mr. P. G. M. Mitchell, general manager and a director of the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company, and Mr. John Macmillan, general manager of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co., Ltd., have been appointed directors of the White Star Line, Limited, and the Oceanic Steam Navigation Co., Ltd. Captain J. Mcßostie, chief officer of the White Star liner Majestic, assumed the appointment of assistant commander of that steamer when she left Southampton last month for New York. Captain P. Vaughan, the Majestic’s former assistant commander, has been appointed to the command of the Calgaric. Both officers are well known in New Zealand, having served in the White Star liner lonic some years ago. COAL FROM NEWCASTLE. J. A. Redpath and Co. advise that the steamer Mernoon is due at Wellington on Monday morning from Newcastle with a cargo of coal for discharge at Wellington and Lyttelton. STILL BAR-BOUND. The Union Company advise that the Kahika and Poolta, loading for Wellington, the Kaimai for New Plymouth and Wellington. and the Kanna for Auckland, were still bar-bound at Greymouth yesterday. It is now hoped that they will clear the bar on this morning’s tide. PORT PIRIE LEAVES SUVA. Cabled advice has been received by the C. and D. Line that the Port Pirle, from London, left Suva yesterday afternoon for Port Chalmers, Lyttelton and Timaru to complete discharge of her London cargo. She is due at Port Chalmers on Tuesday. REPAIRS TO TURAKINA. Several hundred rivets are being renewed in the hull of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Turaklna, which arrived at Port Chalmers last week from Glasgow, via Oamaru in a leaky condition. The damaged portion of the hull is situation in the outside -“skin” of the double bottom, well towards the bows. As part of the double bottom space had been .used for the storage of oil fuel, the renewal of the rivets is difficult owing to the residue of oil and its fumes. The work will occupy several days yet. THE PORT BOWEN. The C. and D. Line steamer Port Bowen reached Glasgow last Monday to commence loading at West Coast ports of Great Britain for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is scheduled to leave Liverpool on June 21 for Auckland, where she is due about July 26. WEIRBANK DELAYED. A further wireless message has been received from the Bank Line motor-ship Weirbank, en route from Chill to Auckland, reporting that she now expects to arrive to-morrow night. The vessel brings 7800 tons of nitrates for discharge at Auckland and Australian ports. ; KAMONA FOR GREYMOUTH. The Union Company’s Kamona is now due here this morning from Napier and will leave again to-day for Greymouth to load for Miramar and Wellington.
