Wave of New Building CHRISTCHURCH NEXT Nearly a Million Involved Dominion Special Service. Christchurch, June 13. A statement that Christchurch was on the eve of a great increase in building was made in the Arbitration Court to-day by Mr. J. W. Graham. Mr. Graham said that during the next six months tenders would be called for work involving an expenditure of £704,000. At the present time there were many men in the building trade out of work. That was due to the fact that Auckland had been over-built, Wellington was being rebuilt, and Christchurch was still to be built Men were flocking to Christchurch, and he prophesied that the city was on the eve of a great increase in the iSspe of building permits. He had been inforjned that within the next six months tedders would be called for jobs involving £704,000. Never in the history of Christchurch had there been work for such a large sum on the boards of the city architects.
