MAGIC PUBLICITY
APPEAL BY PRINCE GEORGE
An appeal for the “flood light” of publicity to assist Britain’s return to trade prosperity was made by Prince George at the annual dinner in London of the National Advertising Benevolent Society. Prince George, proposing the toast of the National Advertising Benevolent Society, said that its members seemed to be “flood lighting” the work and services of man so that each article was better known, better seen, and more keenly desired. Sir Gomer Berry. Bart., president of fhe society, in reply, said that be was lost in admiration at sbroe of our modern advertising. For effectiveness and sustained interest. for lucidity and directness in appeal exactly attuned to Britsh characteristics, our advertising to-day compared favourably with that of any country. “I am convinced that even those of us who are intimately concerned with advertising have even now but little idea of what advertising can do in the way of extending industry,” continued Sir Gomer, who instanced the amazingly good results that attended the “Eat More Fish” campaign. The revenue of Britsh trawler-owners had been increased by no less a sum than £1,100,000, and the sales of fish had gone up bv 37,000 tons in one year by the epesdiac £40,000 «• advtrtMa*.
