On various highways throughout the Dominion the pace at which motorists may travel is governed by local restrictions of speed limits fixed by, the Motor Vehicles Act, but when it comes to the control of motor traffic on beaches, it would appear that the “all out” rule obtains (remarks' the “Star"). Within easy reach of Auckland there are long stretches of firm sand which afford motorcar owners an opportunity of accelerating to any limit that their machines are capable of, and they do not hesitate to do so. Orewa beach is a favourite “speedway,” and on week-ends cars purr along it at a great pace. So far there have been few accidents through speeding.
