SCHOOLBOYS’ TOUR OFF “AUSTRALIA NOT SERIOUS” The council of the New Zealand Football Association met last evening. There were present Messrs. F. Campbell (chairman), B. L. Salmon, J. A. Milburn, F. Sanders, A. Varney, D. G. Stirratt, H, Renai, H. L. Godber, and A. Williams (secretary). , „ Correspondence was received from Mr. R Harrison in regard to the late reply of the Australian Football. Association concerning the proposed visit of a Xew Zealand primary schoolboys ‘ team. In view of the request for further information and dates, he considered the Australian association had not taken the matter seriously, and he thought the council would be wise ip proceeding with arrangements for a North v. South Island primary schools’ match. The chairman reported the action which had been taken in definitely cancelling the visit, and said the best thing would be to concentrate on the North y. South Island match, which would be some compensation for the boys and keep them interested. The chairman’s action was approved. Schools’ Grant. The South Auckland Association wrote expressing disappointment that the council had not seen its way to pay the grant of £25 promised to the Schools Association in 1928, and asking for reconsidcratl°The chairman said it was not promised in 1928. The council had made a contribution to Wellington in the previous year, and the South Auckland Association took it for granted that it would be paiu the next year.' Affiliation Fees. A sub-committee reported in reference to the rule governing the payment of affiliation fees and voting power at the annual meeting. It was decided to enforce the rule strictly in future, and that promises to pay should not count as payment. „ , . Manawatu Protest. The Manawatu Association wrote protesting against St. Andrews having to travel to Wanganui in the Chatham Cup competition. St. Andrews, its only entry, had had to travel for the last three years. The competitions committee reported that it was done to give encouragement to the game in Wanganui. The committee’s action was approved.. Permission For Game. The Canterbury association was granted permission to arrange a representative match with Westland on August V. Mr. J. A. Milburn: Otago played Southland the other day and gave them a father of a hiding. Did they get permission to play? The secretary replied in the negative, and’ it was decided to write asking the associations why permission was not obtained.
