DULL SKIES AND RAIN Dull and lowering skies with a bleak atmosphere characterised the city’s weather yesterday. Light rain fell in the morning, and there was an absence of wind.

For the 24 hours ended at midnight last night 28 points of rain was registered on the “Dominion’s” rain gauge. The weather was boisterous and wet at Auckland. The weather was dull and cold at Dunedin until late this afternoon, when rain set in. The wind was light from the south-west. The maximum temperature was 53 degrees. The barometer showed a falling tendency, last evening’s reading being 29.70.
