SOCIAL GATHERING

SEVERAL PRESENTATIONS Members of the Wellington Coach and Motor Trades Union of Employers entertained Mr. and Mrs. Hope G . lb ' bons and Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Taylor at dinner at the Grand Hotel last evening. The president of the New Zealand union, Mr John E. Hunt, presided over an attendance of about 50, and spoke of the work of the guests in extending hospitality to delegates when the recent Dominion conference of district unions was held in Wellington. Mrs. Gibbons was presented with a bouquet and Mr. Gibbons was asked to accept a large framed photograph taken from his house. A gift of a bag was made to Mrs. Taylor, the presentation being made by the president of the Wellington union, Mr. N. Collingwood. The opportunity was also taken to present a fountain pen and cheque to Mr. R. McCluggage. The recipients suitably replied, and their health, together with that of the chairman and the secretary of the ufiion (Mr. F. Ross), was toasted and honoured with enthusiasm. .
