THREATS OF VIOLENCE

TO AUSTRALIAN SENATOR WATERSIDE DISPUTE Canberra, May 15. Threats of physical violence and bombs contained in anonymous letters written to a member of the Opposition caused a stir in the Senate. Sir George Pearce, Leader of the Opposition, while speaking on the waterside dispute concerning pick-up places, mentioned that such threats were made to a certain member of the Opposition, who was solemnly warned not to thwart the unionists’ plans, but Sir George Pearce added that the members of the Opposition were not going to be deterred from doing what was regarded as a public duty.
