OBITUARY

MR. WILLIAM ADAMS The death occurred on Thursday night of Mr. William Adams, of No. 3 Ohiro Road, a very well-known old resident of Wellington. The late Mr. Adams, who was 89 years of age, was born in London and came to New Zealand some 56 years ago with a young family, the; journey out in a sailing vessel occupying four months. He was a builder by trade, and made good use of it by acquiring land in Aro Street, Devon Street, Adams Terrace, Landcross Street, and elsewhere in that locality, and building on it. He was a popular member of the Wellington Bowling Club for many years, and, living next to the green, it was a fanuliar sight to see the old man watching the play over the fence while unable to was twice married, and leaves a widow and a family of six sons by his first 'wife —Mr. J. S. Adams, Otaki, Mr. L. C. Adams, Petone, Mr. M. Adams, Paraparaumn, Mr. G. A. Adams, Wellington,. Mr. Gxis . Adams, Plimmerton, and Mr. W. Adams., Wellington—and two daughters—Mrs. F. Martin and Mrs. Noon, *>t Wellington. There are also 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grand-children. EARLY NELSON SETTLER Dominion Special Service. Nelson, May 2. The death has occurred of another of Nelson’s earliest settlers in the person of Mr. John Waring Saxton at the age of 83. One of a family of nine, he was the last member. He was the fifth son of the late John Waring Saxton, who arrived in Nelson by the Ciitford in May, 1842.
