ITALIAN ART

SUCCESS OF EXHIBITION BRITISH PEOPLE’S GRATITUDE (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. March 31, 5.5 p.m.)* Rugby, March 30. The Government last night gave a banquet to the success which attended the recently-concluded Italian Art Exhibition, which was visited by over 500,000 people. Lord Parmoor expressed the deep gratitude of the Government and people of Britain primarily to the Italian Government and to all others who had made the exhibition possible. It had brought together works of Italian art both from private and public sources, chiefly from Italy, but also from all parts of the world, and the museums of France, Germany, Hungary, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, the United States and Canada had generously lent of theft best. No fewer than 15 different countries contributed. The Italian Ambassador announced that his King and Government had conferred on Lady Chamberlain, chairman of the Exhibition Committee, the golden Italian medal.
