X-RAY PHOTOGRAPHS

A DOCTOR’S DOUBT The infallibility of X-ray photographs as a method o£ diagnosis was challenged by Dr. S. D. Rhind when giving evidence yesterday in the Arbitration Court during the hearing of a claim for compensation for alleged injuries. “It has been said, declared Dr. Rhind, “That there are liars, damned liars, and X-ray photographs. Some X-ray photographs reveal things which do not exist, and conceal things which are there.”. . With this surprising preface Dr. Rhind proceeded to tell the Court that X-ray photographs should not be regarded as infallible. Too much attention, he said, was apt to be paid nowadays to mechanical means of diagnosis rather than rely upon a personal examination and diagnosis.
