lIIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. Playing the part of a song-writer and radio entertainer, who accidentally causes the death of Ills backer, on account of advances towards the entertainer"s wife, Al Jolson, of “The Jazz Singer" fame, moved a large - audience alternately to laughter and tears in "Say it With Songs,” Vltaphone’s all-talking, all-singing picture which Is now showing at His Majesty's Theatre. In this tender drama, Jolson plays the part of Joe Lane, former prize-fighter, but now a writer of songs and radio entertainer. The world looks rosy to him and he believes that Phillips, the man who Is backing him, is doing so for friendship’s sake, but finds out that it is to win the love of Lane’s wife. Infuriated with jealousy. Joe attacks the man, who falls; strikes bls head on the kerb and dies. Joe is sentenced to a long term in Sing Sing. Feeling that his wife will suffer from the disgrace, he urges her to divorce him, telling her that he no longer cares for her. This she does. When Joe has “done his stretch” he returns and visits the school where his “little pal” is. The child follows him as he leaves, and is run over by a truck, after which he can neither walk nor talk. The surgeon consents to operate only if Joe promises to give the child up to his motiier. He at first refuses, but later thinks better of it, and goes to the surgeon who operates and restores the child’s power to walk. Speech comes through hearing a record of the song, “Little Pal," which his daddy had often sung to him. This is a meagre outline of an ordinary enough story which Jolson glorifies into a thing of moving beauty. He sings, “Why Cau’t You, "Little Pal,” "Used to You,” "Seventh Heaven,” “Back in Your Own Back Yard,” “I’m Ka-razy for You,” and “Just One Sweet Kiss.” Two sessions are being presented daily. QUEEN’S THEATRE. Hoot Gibson portrays a college youth and a tenderfoot with a Wild West show in “Courtin’ Wildcats,” Universal talking picture, now at the Queen’s Theatre. This famous actor of the Wild West, who has had considerable experience driving in auto races, performs some hair-raising stunts at the wheel of a racing roadster, Eugenia Gilbert has the role of leading lady, and the notable cast includes Harry Todd, Joseph Girard, Monty Montague, John Oscar, Jim Corey, James Farley, Pete Morrisou, and' Joe Bonomo,. In the second feature, “The Ace of Scotland Yard,” a Scotland Yard man, Blake, has retired to seclusion of his country home, believing that Lady Diana’s kindness was prompted by friendship, not by love. The acquisition of the love ring by Lord Blanton, Lady Diana’s father, brings fear to Blake because he senses the danger'that the possession of tbc ring brings to Lady Diana and her father.. The startling events follow, the kidnapping and rescue of Lady Diana, and the subsequent activities of the Queen of Diamonds and her gang make up a very thrilling story. SYMONS-ELLWOOD-SnORT TRIO.
