GREEK FESTIVAL

“REMEMBER MARCH 25.” The one hundredth anniversary of the severance of Greece from Turkish rule wiis celebrated a few days ago by the Wellington Pan-Hellenic Association. Mr. George George presided, and speeches were made in English and in Greek, The audience was urged to remember Afarcii 25 as the most important national (lay of Greece. There was a marked proBritish tone about the gathering, the Union Jack and the British National Anthem being conspicuously coupled with the evidences of Greek patriotism. It is a coincidence that March 25 has a double significance, as on that date in 1924 Greece was proclaimed a republic.
