TAINUI’S FRUIT PRICES N.Z. HEMP QUIET The Department' of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated March 29, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — TALLOW. No auction until next week. Business doing in spot fine mutton at (id. per cwt. lower and gutty sorts afloat at 6d. per cwt. higher than last Quotations. FRUIT. Market well supplied with apples, and demand about normal. Of Tainui shipment Alfristons in best condition, others showing more or less waste. Prices realised were Gravenstein and Worcester Pearmain 10/- to 14/- per case, Alfristons 12/- to 14/- per case. Pears were overripe and sold at 4/6 to 6/- per case. HEMP. Manila market steady with firmer tendency. Fair business has been done. J grade March-May and April-June shipment at £29/10/-. — , Sisal: Market quiet but steady. Value fair average quality No. 1 March-May shipment £33/10/-, No. 2 £32/10/-, good marks 10/- more. New Zealand market very quiet, business being confined to small lots afloat at low prices, fair afloat having been sold at £27. No first-hand business reported in forward shipment. ' woQL Sales continue with active broadening competition and prices show hardening tendency. .
