DROVER ARRESTED

ASSAULT ON MAGISTRATE SEQUEL TO DOG FIGHT Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, March 31. Two dogs fighting in Egmont Street, Batea, on Friday afternoon were responsible for an unusual occurrence. Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., tried to part them, and while doing so was seized by the coat collar by the owner of one of the dogs, a Maori drover, and thrown violently on the road. Mr. Salmon exercised his right of arrest and took the man in charge. The incident followed a long sitting of the Court on a Native affiliation case, and many natives were in Batea at the time. The drover will be brought before the Court to-morrow morning.
