AFTER MANY YEARS

UNION COMPANY MANAGER RETIRES

Mr. W. A. Kennedy, manager at Wellington for the Union Steam Ship Company for over 34 years, and the senior member of its staff, retired yesterday from the service of the company and was farewelled by the directors, the bend office management, and by the members of the Wellington branch. His services were eulogised by all the speakers, who tendered their best wishes for his future happiness. Mr. J. Neale, on behalf of the staff of the Wellington office, presented Mr. Kennedy with a travelling case, travelling rug and gold wristlet watch. 'For the directors, Mr. C. G. White presented him with a silver cigarette and cigar box. a cheque for himself and one for Mrs. Kennedy. For the head office management Mr. D. A. Aiken, the general manager, presented him with a steel wardrobe trunk and a gold travelling clock. Reference was made to the fact that in his 53 years of service with the company Mr. Kennedy had seen it grow from very small beginnings to be one of the greatest shipping companies in the world. Opportunity was taken by Mr. White to welcome Mr. W. 11. Price, manager nt Christchurch, who succeeded Mr. Kennedy ns Wellington manager for the company.
