[Vice-Regal.] The Governor-General-designate (The Right Honourable Lord Bledisloe, P.C.. G.C.AI.G., K.8.E.) and the Lady Bledisloe, with Lieutenant J. C. Elworthy, R.N., A.D.C., will arrive at Wellington on the motor vessel Rangitiki, due on March 19, according to. a statement issued by the official secretary to the Governor-General. Information concerning the formal ceremonies of arrival and assumption of office will be published later. Major A. H. Bathurst (brother of and Military Secretary to Lord Bledisloe) with Mrs. Bathurst, Sir John Hanham. Bart.. A.D.C., and members of the Vice-Regal household staff are due to reach Auckland by the s.s. Corinthic on Alarch 15. His Excellency the Administrator (Sir Michael Myers) made an unannounced visit to Wellington College yesterday afternoon. At the time of the visit the pupils were all engaged in thir weekly drill parade. Accompanied by the headmaster (Mr. AV. A. Anpour), Sir Michael was shown over the new building, the Memorial Hall, and Firth House. At the termination of the visit Sir Alichael asked for a halt-holiday for the pupils at a suitable time. As Sir Michael Alyers is the first old boy of the school to hold the honourable position of Administrator of the Dominion, the headmaster agreed that the occasion should be so marked.
Lord and Lady Latymer, of Shipton Lodge, England, were in AVellington yesterday. They will leave for the south this evening to engage in a deerstalking expedition in the back country of Otago.
The Minister of Labour (Hon. AV. A Veitch) left yesterday, for Wanganui, He will return to Wellington on .Monday.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives (Hon. Sir Charles Statham) is expected to arrive in Wellington tomorrow from Dunedin.
The Hon. AV. 11. Mclntyre, M.L.C.. who has been visiting Wellington, left last night for Christchurch, en route for Buller.
Air. J. A. Macpherson. M.P. for Oamaru, is visiting AVellington.
Air. Colin Munro, who Ims been for the past two years acting as assistant general manager to Alessrs. J. C. Hutton (N.Z.), Ltd., has now been appointed general manager of this company. Air. H. J. Butler has been appointed to act as Vice-Consul for Sweden at Christchurch during the temporary absence of the Vice-Consul.
Mr. Horace Fildes, of Kelburn, was a passenger by the Ulimaroa yesterday to Sydney, there to connect with s.s. Orford for England. He expects to bo away nine months.
Mr. A. H. Messenger, of the Publicity Department, is at present in the South Island accompanying (he Alinister of Internal Affairs (Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle), on a tour. It is possible that they will remain in Dunedin over Monday in view of the fact that tlie Byrd Expedition is expected to arrive there on that day.
Sir George Elliot was a passenger for tlie north by the Limited express last evening.
Colonel J. Pow. secretary of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, who is travelling with the British Empire farmers’ party, will return to Wellington to-morrow, and on Monday will rejoin the party, which will leave for the ’south that night.
( Tlie King lias approved the appointment of Mr. Wilfrid Jackson. Colonial Secretary of the Gold Coast, to be Governor and Commaiider-in-Chiet' of Mauritius in succession to Sir Herbert James Reid, who is retiring, states a British official wireless message.
Mr. Edward Brauscombe, Mr. Leo. du Chateau, and tlie members of the AVestminster Glee Singers, left for Sydney by the Ulimaroa yesterday.
Mr. IT. Seed, secretary to the New Zealand Sawmillers' Federation, is at present in Rotorua with members of the Canadian lumber delegation. They will arrive in Auckland on Sunday, and are expected to leave for Canada by the Aorangi. Mr. Seed will return to AA rellington on AVednesclay. The late Mr. Francis John Munson, who died nt Hie Wellington Hospital through injuries sustained in an accident on March 5, was buried at the Karori cemetery yesterday. It was a private funeral. The relatives present were: Mr. and Mrs. AV. M. AVriglit (Ha-t.-iitai). Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ross (Glenside), Mr. and Mrs. Dunean Ross (Auckland), Mr. and Mrs. P. V. Mlles (Island Bay), .Air. and Mrs. Hubert Munson (Runangti), Mr; Roiighau Munson, his eldest sou (Christchurch), Mr. J. Ross (Auckland). Mr. Tobin and Mr. AVicks, and Mr. AVhitnell (AVellington).- There were many floral tributes. Constable W. F. Hammond, of the Mount Cook Police Station, who was married recently, was presented with a handsome clock as a wedding present. Hie gift being made by Senior-Sergennl Butler on behalf of the officers and men of Hie station.
