A WONDERFUL TIME

AUSTRALIAN DAIRYMEN IMPRESSED

The party of CO Australian dairymen which has been touring the North Island for the past eleven days under the auspices of Amalgamated Dairies. Ltd., terminated its tour yesterday, when the bulk Ot the delegates left on their return to Sydney by the Ulimaroa. “It has been a wonderful time.” said Mr. G. S. Stoning, leader of the party, to . a "Dominion" reporter. “We have travelled 1100 miles by car and 100 miles by rail, and seen in the short space of eleven days not only the main farming districts of the North Island, but also the scenic beauties and eharms of the thermal regions and Mount Egmout. Quite apart from the dairying aspect of our trip, the tour will have been abundantly worth while for New Zealand, ns every member of the delegation will be a walking advertisement for the country for years to come. AU members of the delegation are overwhelmed by the hospitality which has been extended to us. and the organising genius shown in handling the party. New Zealand is a wonderful country, with amazing pastures supremely blessed tor dairying purposes, and we shall leave wit li a marked impression of abundant prosperity in this favoured land.”

Prior to sailing, the whole delegation gathered at the Empire Hotel, to present to -Mr. W. Goodfellow a handsome Maori clock and a letter of appreciation as mementos of the visit to New eZaland.

In making the presentation, Mr. Stening said that it was impossible to ade-. fpiately express the appreciation felt by the delegation for the wonderful time given them by Mr. Goodfellow and his associated officers. The organisation of the tour had been marvellous, not one single hitch having been experienced. Every effort had been made to give them the fullest possible information’. Mr. Goodfellow hud impressed himself upon their memories by his unique attainments. The visit unquestionably would do an immense amount of good in cementing the interests of Australia anil New Zealand together. Mr. Goodfellow, in replying, transferred the credit for the detailed organisation to his associated directors and staff, he himself having planned onlv the broad outlines. They had been glad to do all they could for the Australians, and he thought it was simply returning past favours which had been extended to himself and other New Zealanders.

A handsome cigarette case, suitably inscribed, was presented to Mr. F. Allan Mareroft, of Amalgamated Dairies, who was responsible for detailed organisation in connection with the tour.
