DUNEDIN SPEEDWAYS

COMPLAINTS REGARDING NOISE JURISDICTION OF CITY COUNCIL Dominion Special Service. Dunedin, March 7. Reporting on a deputation of residents which waited ou it complaining ot the noise emanating from the new motor speedway in South Dunedin, the General Committee of the City Council explains that the council’s jurisdiction in the matter concerns only the stability and fitness of the building and appurtenances. If these comply with the requirements laid down in the Municipal Corporations Act the council has no option but to grant the license. ' If, on the other hand, a nuisance should be created by noise or in any other manner as the result of the use of the licensed premises, it is the persons affected by such conditions who must take steps by ordinary legal process or otherwise to secure an abatement.
