Six clubs participated, each one placing two rinks on the green, so that forty-eight bowlcis were engaged. Five games of 13 hands each were played. The results were as follow: — , . SECTION A. At the conclusion of the day the cup was presented by Mr. Hugh Wright, who said that they seemed to have had a pleasant day, aud lie was glad that it was now a one-day game, which he thought was better than drawing out the competitors for two days. He thought the cup promoted the proper spirit. Cheers were given for the donor, with musical honours. Mr. W. Perry, on diehalf of the bowlers, thanked Mr. Wright for presenting the cup, as it gave them a fine holiday, qnd provided them with a great day tit bowls. He hoped that the spirit which animated the competition would long continue. ( : So far the Working Men's Club, the Commercial Travellers’ Club (twice) and the. Federal Club have held the cup. The annual inter-provincial bowls mutch between Olago and Canterbury for the Rcdpa’tch Shield was played on the Dunedin Club's green to-day, the match being of eight rinks aside. Tito event was won by Olago by 200 points to 169. Ten games have now been played for the shield, and Otago has won seven aud Canterbury three.
