INFLAMMABLE GASES
DISCOVERY IN MURCHISON TOWNSHIP PROBABLE AFTERMATH , OF EARTHQUAKE By Telegraph—Press Association. Murchison, March 6. Consequent upon the big earthquake upheaval of June last extensive emanations of natural inflammable gases were discovered during the week by Messrs. John A. Spencer, a petroleum enginer, and C. B. Cressey, In the centre of the township of Murchison. Samples have been collected for analysis, as it is believed, from the nature of the flame, that the gases contain ( ethane, which is a component of petroleum.
