THEATRICAL MAGNATE
VISIT OF MR. EDWIN
GEACH
The well-knowu theatrical manager, Mr. Edwin Geach, accompanied by Mrs. Geach, arrived by the Tahiti yesterday irom Sydney. It is their intention to stay a lew days in Wellington prior to departing for Auckland to catch the Aorangi on March 11. Mr. Geach is on a world tour, during which his itinerary will include Europe, England, and America, and will extend over several months. He will visit the lilm-produeiug centres in each of these countries, with the object of studying the film production market for the next year, on behalf of Union Theatres. . On behalf of Union Theatres Ltd. Mr. Geach will also investigate the purchase of equipment for the taking of talking pictures in Sydney, and will also confer with the directorate of British Dominion Films Ltd. regarding the class of films that he thinks will be most suitable for that company to produce for the Australian and New Zealand market. Iteferring .to the general commercial state of Sydney at the present time, Mr. Geach states that it is such that very little can be seen by the naked eye. Big public buildings were going on apace, especially the great North Shore bridge, which, Mr. Geach states, after a private inspection, is too colossal to be aptly described. It is really a stupendous undertaking, and when once completed will be the Mecca of all Australia. The old gag about Sydney Harbour will cease to exist, and the saying in the future will be “Have you seen our bridge?” Mr. Geach will probably pay a flying visit to the South Island, in the interests of his company. He will also visit Wanganui, the Waitomo caves, the Chateau at Tongariro National Park, Taupo, and liotorua, en route to Auckland. He will leave Auckland by the Aorangi, and leave her at Honolulu, where a stay will be made before proceeding on by a Matson liner to Los Angeles. From California Mr. and Mrs. Geach will journey on to New Orleans, and from there yill fly to Miami, in Florida, later visiting Washington, Philadelphia, and New York, before continuing on to England. . . ,
