Marist Newtown B, Kelburn Park No. 3; W.Y.M.I. v. Technical College, Kelburn Park No. 1. Karori defeated Petone by four wickets and 5 runs. In the first innings Peton made 92 runs and Karori 102. In the second, Petone compiled 10(3 and Karori lost six wickets for 101 runs. Outstanding performances were Phillips (Petone) 44, Spenc (Petone) 28, J. Adams (Karori) 32, Jenson (Karori) 29 not out, Shivnan (Karori) 24, and Nimmo (Karori) 21 not out. On an average for both innings, Nimmo took nine wickets for 65 runs, including the hat trick. NELSON CLUB MATCHES TWO CENTURIES. Dominion Special Service. Nelson, February 24. On Saturday afternoon at Trafalgar Park the Old Boys and Wakatu senior teams completed their second round championship match which was commenced a fortnight ago. On the first day Wakatu made 103 and when stumps were drawn Old Boys had three wicketM down for 135 (Neale 70 not out, Newman 4 not out). On Saturday J. Newman was absent, and Neale went on to 88 before Langbein clean bowled him, but the rest of the team went very cheaply, the last five wickets producing only 25. The total reached was 177. Wakatu made an exceedingly poor start in the second innings, the first seven wickets falling for 73 runs. However Searell and Mellwraith then became associated, the partnership reaching 89 runs. Searell started slowly, but later scored very fast, while Mellwraith stonewalled to keep up his end. Reaching 100, Searell went on merrily to 156. The score .included 25 fours and two sixers. Wakatu’s recovery made it hopeless for Old Boys to win in the remaining time. Old Boys won on the first innings.
Tlie match between College and Athletic was finished on the College ground on Saturday. On the first day of the match College made 97 in the first innings, to which Athletic replied with 119w At the end of the first day’s play College had three wickets down for 71" runs (Karsten 13 not out, Hooper 6 not out)* Karsten continued his effort, eventually topning the century after a splendid innings. He was still unbeaten at the end of the innings for 118. In Athletic's second innings Ralfe knocked up 108 runs (not out) before stumps were drawn* when Athletic had four wickets down foe 240. Athletic won by 22 runs on the first innings.
