VALUE OF COMPETITIONS

Sir,—You will notice no doubt that one of the boys that has been accepted to tour the world with the Westminster Glee Singers is James Humphreys, gaining recognition through his winnings in your Wellington Competitions, in singing, and elocution. I think it is only fair that the people of Wellington should ackhowledge the fair way the secretary and staff of the Competitions handle their work, which is a great help to our children. It would be a great pity if such a wonderful organisation were allowed to fail on account of the influx of the American nasal picture shows that may bo the means of our younger generation s speech being affected.—l Christchurch, February 22.
