PROHIBITION IN AMERICA
DEMAND FOR NATIONAL REFERENDUM (Rec. February 23, 5.5 p.m.) Wasliington, February 21. Representative Mead, in the House of Representatives, made a demand for a national referendum on prohibition, as a raging controversy over enforcement gained momentum after two days’ slashing attacks. Mr. Mead stated: “I predict the next President will allow the American people an opportunity to < xp-ress their view in a nation-wide referendum."
