FAREWELL TO LORD CRAIGAVON
ORANGE LODGE HONOUR VISITOR
A farewell gathering in honour of Most Worshipful Viscount Craigavon took place at the Mokoia Hall last night. The event was held tinder the auspices of Loyal Orange Lodge, No. 87, Kelburn, and was attended by 350 members and visitors. The R.W. Grand Master Bro. 11. Smithers, accompanied by P.G.M.’s Bros. Aston, Donald, Petherick, and I.P.G.M. Bro. Budden, was in attendance and presented an illuminated address from the Orangemen and women of New Zealand. The W.M. Bro. Selman presided and welcomed the distinguished visitor, who was then affiliated and made a life member of the lodge. The D.M., Bro. Howard Elliott, presented on behalf of the lodge, a gold life member’s emblem. Bro. J. A. Smith presented an album containing the Press cuttings of the reports of the Viscount’s and Viscountess’s visits and addresses in New Zealand. The Viscount was enthusiastically greeted on rising to reply, and delivered an eloquent address in appreciation of the courtesy of the gathering. After the conclusion of the lodge meeting Viscount Craigavon received all present. Supper was served and a lengthy toast list was honoured. The Viscount at the request of the W.M., presented Bro. Hetallick with a silver replica of the jewel presented to himself. A'isitors were present from all parts of the Wellington province.
