FURTHER DEVELOPMENT CONSIDERED UTILITY OF AIRSHIPS (British Official Wireless,) (Rec. February 1, 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, January 31. A further development of the big experiment in speeding-up Empire communications is under active consideration by the authorities, now that the home trials of the two new British airships RlOO and RlOl have been completed. It is believed that the vessels have entirely justified themselves from the technical and constructional viewpoints, and the possibilities of utilising such ships for commercial operation or of effecting Improvements in new construction that may be contemplated for this purpose are being examined. ZEPPELIN’S POLAR TOUR ABANDONED Berne, January 81. Dr. Eckener has finally abandoned the Graf Zeppelin’s proposed tour to the North Pole, because it is impossible to insure the crew, but he states that a German-American aerial navigation company will be formed in March to build airships to make the trip to America in three days, and the return journey in two. GLIDER LAUNCHED FROM AIRSHIP (Rec. February 2, 5.5 p.m.) New York, February 1. The first glider ever launched from, an airship slipped off the tail of the' dirigible Los Angeles, when cruising at an altitude of 3000 feet. Seated in a two hundred pounds monoplane glider, Lieutenant Ralph Barnaby, the only licensed glider pilot in the United States Navy, gracefully circled Lake Hurst, crossing and recrossing the field a dozen times, and landing fifteen minutes after he left the airship. DAL MOLIN’S BODY FOUND Marseilles, January 31. Desezano, a deep-sea diver, who found Francejschi’s body several days ago, found Dal MOlin’s machine to-day. He also found the airman’s body at a depth of three hundred feet. As the body was sent to the surface, till aboard the diving boat stood at attention. Dal Molln’s friends, since his death, have been dally strewing flowers over the waters. _______
