HINDU RUN DOWN BY RACE TRAIN

FATAL INJURIES. Dominion Special Service. Auckland, January 26. A Hindu named Basant Singh, who was employed by Mr. T. G. Murdoch, of Hikutaia, died in the hospital at Paeroa to-day as the result of injuries received from being run down by a train between Paeroa and Te Aroha. Deceased had been to the Paeroa races and, missing his train, he decided to walk home along the line. A special train from Frankton Junction bound for Tauranga came behind him and struck him. He had three limbs broken and his head and body were badly battered.
