The Pandit Jawaharlal Nebru. president of the National Congress, states that a resolution printed in hundreds of languages and dialects is being distributed and voted upon throughout India on Independence Day (Sunday). The resolution declares that the British Government has debased Itself by the exploitation of the masses and ruined India economically, politically, culturally and spiritually. India must therefore sever the British connection. Civil disobedience, Including non-pay-ment of taxes, is advocated, but Indians must refrain frorf violence, even under provocation. It is contended that this action win assure the end of the "inhuman rule.” CONSPIRACY OF VIOLENCE ARMS FOUND (Reo. January 26, 5.5 p.m.). Delhi, January 25. In a lightning raid on houses in the northern quarter of Calcutta in the early morning the police discovered moulds for the manufacture of bombs, quantities of guncotton, explosives and a number of daggers. In one house three science students were arrested. Later detectives, reinforced by drafts of city police, raided three houses between 2 o’clock and 9 o’clock, and made ten arrests. All the arrested persons were youths. Seditious leaflets indicating the adoption in India of a wide conspiracy of violence were seized. The police Place great importance in the arrests in view of the Independence Day celebrations throughout the country to-morrow. TWELVE MEN SENTENCED TO IMPRISONMENT Delhi, January 23. Subhas Chandra Bose, the Bengal Congress leader, and eleven others, were sentenced to a year’s imprisonment with hard labour by the Calcutta Magistrate for esdition in connection with the holding of a procession in August. The Magistrate said that the intention of the accused was clearly established as spreading disaffection to the point of ending the Government and exciting bitter feelings towards it
