NEW ZEALAND HONEY

HOW IT FARES ABROAD Mr. H. W. Castle,'of Messrs. A. J. Mills and Co., Ltd., who recently returned from a visit to Denmark and Germany in the interests of New Zealand] honey, reports;— “In Denmark New Zealand honey* undoubtedly holds the premier position an far as imported honeys are concerned, and of late the best-known consulting physician in Denmark, Dr. Bramsden, has been strongly recommending New Zealand honey in the Press aud in food reform journals. I had a chat with the doetoß and thanked him for what ? he had done and what he was doing; but he replied that no thanks were needed, as in recommending New Zealand honey he was only doing what he conscientiously believed to be right. He paid a warm tribute to the wonderful work which Sir William Arbuthnot Lane and the New Health Society were doing in Britain, and stated that he was interested in a similar movement in Denmark, of course, on a 8116011 smaller scale. “It is no exaggeration to say that almost every housewife in Scandinavia knows New Zealand, honey. The prospects for trade this season are bright. “In regard to Germany, we are slowly gaining ground there, but progress is' slow owinjf to the economic position. It is a fact that to-day there is no money in Germany, and even the largest firms find it difficult to carry on. Bank loans are not easily obtainable and a rate of 12 per cent, per annum is charged. Although appreciating New Zealand honey the, bulk of the people is quite unable to pay the price required. The honey is well known as a result of the large amount of propaganda done, and I am confident that as soon as the economic position improves the demand for New Zealand honey will considerably increase."
