MAN FOUND DEAD IN POOL

RECENT PATIENT AT MENTAL HOSPITAL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Now Plymouth, January 24. With a 20-pound grindstone- tied to his neck, John Findlay, aged 53, of Carrington Road, a retired master baker, was discovered by his wife and son.jying dead in a pool four feet deep in, the Tehenui River shortly after 4 p.m. this afternoon. Only this morning Mr. Findlay, Senr., had visited the locality with his wife while inspecting some pigs and had remarked that he would never take his life because he would not have the courage to do so. Mrs. Findlay and her son visited New Plymouth this afternoon, leaving an employee to keep an eye upon deceased. At about 3.30 the employee left to milk and he saw ’ deceased lying dressed on hjs bed. When the employee returned at about 3.50 Mrs. Findlay had returned and deceased was missing. He was found as described clad in trousers, a shirt and slippers. Deceased had only been out of Porirua Mental Hospital for about 10 days. He had entered the institution voluntarily a short time ago. He was stated to have no financial troubles. No note was found.
