Meteorological Office, Wellington, Thursday, January 28, 1930, 4 p.m. An anti-cyclone is still situated over the northern Tatsman. Pressure is low over the greater part of Australia, a cyclone being centred near Bass
Strait. Winds southerly north of Kawhia and Napier; elsewhere variable, tending ** northerly later; moderate generally but strong at times In the far north and south. Seas rough In Foveanx Strait; elsewhere smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Southerly winds in the northern portion of the eastern Tasman Sea and north-westerly in the southern portion; moderate generally with smooth to moderate seas. Weather mainly fine and warmer, but isolated showers likely, more especially in northern and southern districts. Tendency for summer thunderstorms in the Taranaki area.
