WOMAN KILLED

KNOCKED DOWN IN STREET

Dominion Special Service Auckland, January 3.

Fatal injuries were sustained by Mrs. Josephine Clarke, aged 57, of I’onsonby. when she was struck by a motorcar after alighting from a tramcar in Jervois Road, Ponsonby, late this afternoon. She died in the Auckland Hospital at 7.45 pan., an hour and a half after her admission. She had sustained severe internal injuries. The accident occurred at the Hamilton Road tram, the stopping place where Mrs. Clarke left the tram which - was proceeding up Herne Bay. Just after stepping into the roadway she was struck by the motor-car. The name of the driver is not known. The injured woman was carried into nearby premises, and received treatment before being removed to the hospital.
