MORE DEATHS, FEWER BIRTHS By Cfelegraph. —Press Association. Dunedin, January 1. During the past three years the number of births registered at Dunedin has shown a decrease from 1616 for the year 1927 to 1505 for 1929. Deaths, on the other hand, have increased from 993 to 1000 over the same period. In three years there has been an increase in the number'of marriages recorded from 770 to 800. The number of marriages performed in the Registry Office was 119 for 1928, as compared with 107 for 1929. The following are the 1 detailed figures:— 1927— Births, 1616; deaths, 993; mar- ‘ riages, 770. ' 1928— Births, 1514; deaths, 921; marna 1505; deaths, 1000; marriages, SOO. , ,_. 11l December, 1928, there were lu4 births, 73 deaths and 103 marriages; in 1929, 130, 87 and 115 respectively. CHRISTCHURCH FIGURES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch. January 1. Vital statistics for 1929 show that there were 87 fewer births than in 1928, 87 fewer deaths, and 60 more marriages. The totals are: Births, 2417 (2504); deaths, 1285 (1295); marriages, 1166 (1126).
