SITUATION IN NIGERIA
STEADY IMPROVEMENT WORK OF PACIFICATION PROCEEDING (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, December 30. The latest information received by the Colonial Office from the Governor of Nigeria, where disturbances have recently occurred, is to the effect that the general situation is now satisfactory. In the Calabar Province the situation is steadily improving, and the work of pacification proceeding. There is still some unrest at Aro and Union, on tlie left bank of the Cross River, but all roads in tlie province are safe and tlie province is quiet. Reports from Owerri say that North Owerri and South Okigwi are restless. Some looting in the Owerri division is being dealt with. Nguru has been occupied. without opposition. AH elsewhere is quiet. Armed guards have been removed from Aba and normal police work resumed. Troops have been moved from Port Harcourt, as all •is’ quiet there, and concentrated at Ahoada to check the southern movement.
