MATABELES ATTACK MANICAS

POLICE UNABLE TO COPE WITH OUTBREAK

Cape Town, December 30. The defence force at Bulawayo ,-was| called out at the week-end to quell a uatTv tribal disturbance. The Matabeles resent the presence of the Manicas iu the native locations, alleging that they are depriving them of jobs and interfering with their wives. The Matabeles organised an attack, which resulted in two deaths, two being dangerously wounded and fifty injured. Huts were demolished and their contents burned. The outbreak is widespread, and the police are unable to cope with it., Europeans are not molested.
