MESSAGES BY RADIO
RELAY CHAIN OF STATIONS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, December 28. A conference in connection with the first dominion convention of the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters was held on Saturday. • Mr. H. P. •V. Brown, of Christchurch, was voted to the chair, and welcomed the delegates. Great interest attached to a discussion on the proposed relay chain of stations throughout New Zealand for the purpose of coping with any emergency that might arise. A scheme, formulated by Mr. G. S. Waite, general secretary, was analysed. This provided for the establishment of four district stations under the control of a master station, which would maintain watch and carry out the relaying of messages from different ■ parts of the country. The proposal was adopted with a recommendation that individual district should organise some sort of competitive scheme in order to stimulate interest in the movement. Mr T. R. Clarkson, of the post and telegraph staff, Auckland, was elected president. Next year’s conference headquarters will be in Wellington.
