An interesting discussion took place amongst a number of .well-travelled visitors who recently arrived at Auckland. The subject of the debate was which was the prettiest racecourse in the world, and it was eventually decided to settle it by a majority ballot. The visitors were well acquainted with the racecourses of Ascot and Goodwood, in the Old Country, and those in Australia and other parts of the world, and all received their quotas of votes, but the deciding total of seven was recorded in favour of Ellerslie, the course of Brisbane coming second. Auckland has been chosen as the centre for the 1930 conference of members of the legal profession. Tile two previous conferences were held in Christchurch and Wellington. The fixture has been made for Easter, And several days will probably be occupied with the business and social programme.
