BOYS’ INSTITUTE

PRESENTATION OF PRIZES The annual Christmas party and presentation of prizes in connection with the Boys’ Institute took place in the Institute Hall on Tuesday evening. The attendance of children (15 years and under) comprised a record for this function over many years (322 boys and 150 girls) ; the girls were entertained by Mrs. IV. A. Parton, and all received a piesent from the huge tree. Owing to the unavoidable absence of Mrs. J. Hislop, Mrs. W. A. Jordan presented the prizes. Each boy and girl had a bag of good things given to them as well as a Christmas present. Several of the parents also attended. The prizes went to the following boys:— Swimming.—Ross Cup, A. Saunders. Diving, W. Martin. Duncan medal, E. Sharp. Senior athletic championship, Ray Whitehead. Intermediate championship, W. Parris. Junior athletic championship, G. Dalglish. Bandsman’s race, Patterson.
