Authority was granted for the laying of a storm-water drain through private property at Simla Criescent at an estimated cost of £B6, provided the propertyowner agrees to the drain being taken over as a public drain. The city engineer was instructed to report regarding the construction of a pathway at Carlyle Street, Island Bay. , The. city valuer was authorised to negotiate. for the acquisition of a small area required for street-widening purposes at Moana Road. An amendment is to be made to the building-line by-law to provide for the widening of portion of Constable Street between Coromandel Street and the Town Belt to 66ft. from the northern boundary of the street. The parking of motor-cars in the cutting at Upland Road is to be prohibited. Tenders are to be called for the erection of conveniences at Nairnville Park, provision having been made in the estimates for the same. Clause 4 of the rules and regulations laid down for the use of Municipal Croquet Clubs was amended as follows:— “No person who is a' member of one Municipal Croquet Club shall hereafter become a member of any other Municipal Croquet Club.” ' The Mayor said there could be no objection, if one club was short of members, for others to come along and help by becoming a member. Councillor Luckie thought the council should not allow it, as people who did not belong to a club could then join up. Councillor Huggins said duplication of. membership kept out others who wished to join. The recommendation was adopted. The City Solicitor was instructed to supply the Department of Internal Affairs with a list of all spent and obsolete Acts of. the council for inclusion in a.general Repeals Bill in order that these Acts may be repealed. The abattoir receipts for October were £llB9, an increase of £9B on the preceding rhonth. but a decrease of £95 on the corresponding month of last year.
