COLLEGE GAMES

Sir, —“We have far too many boys who play, no games at all,” said Sir. F. M. Renner, principal of Rongotai College. Surely this is not the same gentleman that, refused to allow the Soccer, and I bejieve hockey, games to be played at the ■ college, or yet the same gentjpman that allowed two lads to take home their reports, which to.the surprise and annoyance of the. parents, contained under the heading “Sports” the word “nil,” because they.did not play Rugby. Yet one was a Wellington Soceer representative, and thelother a hockey representative. True, he Mid not stop them from playing when picked, but he gave the boys a very broad hint ,in a lecture as to which was his favourite game. The attitude of Mr. Refiner towards these games seems peculiar, because the schools from which his- pupils come all play Soccer and hockey.— -I am, etc., M. J. HAYWARD. Wellington, December 16. ..
