RONGOTAI COLLEGE CAMP
UNDER CANVAS AT KARAPOTL Rongotai Boys’ College celebrated its second year by holding a eamp at Karapoti. Mr. J. T. McCaw. a master at the college, who organised the camp, has had several year’ experience of such camping. Some 44 bovs attended, from Saturday until yesterday, living under canvas, there being eight tents. a . The camp was situated on a spacious flat,'at a bend of the Little Akatarawa River at Karapoti. It was run ou systematic lines, each boy being allotted certain duties, several senior boys having charge of operations. . . The Saturday was spent in laying qnt the camp, while on Sunday the majority of boys availed themselves of the opportunity for swimming. On Monday, owing to the weather being uncertain, it was deemed advisable to stay as close to the camp as possible, and heavy rain during the latter part of the day forced all to seek the shelter of the tents. On Tuesday even, ing the boys received a visit from the principal of the college, Mr. F. M. Renner, who was accompanied by Mrs. Renner and fr Mr? S Renner complimented the boys on the cleanliness and orderly condition of the camp, and the visitors were entertained at supper.
