KINDLY STUDENTS

VICTORIA COLLEGE SOCIAL SERVICE CLUB.

The Social Service Club of Victoria College for several years past has done much to brighten the lives of people in hospitals and homes by visiting them, and providing bright entertainment. The club is still carrying on this labour of love. Members paid a visit to the Miramar Receiving Home on Wednesday evening, and amused the children by playing games with them until the sudden appearance of Father Christmas brought everyone to the Christmas tree, which had been decorated with presents. These were handed out by Santa Claus, a present being found for every child and one also for the staff. Games and dancing were then indulged in. Mr. G. J. Sceats, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the matron for the hospitality shown to them, and wished the staff and the children a very happy Christmas and merry New Year.

Last evening some members of the club visited the Boys’ Probation Home in Austin Street. The boys were taken for a walk, and were entertained at games, after which the party gathered around a Christmas tree. Father Christmas arrived and handed out presents to each boy. The staff were also given a present, and after more festivities and thanks being given, the party took their ■leave. Cheers were given by the boys for the visitors and for the matron, and the evening concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
