WEDDINGS, An evening wedding, of local interest was solemnised recently at St. Johns Church, Johnsonville/ by the Rev. H. A. Walke,. when Winifred Eileen, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Lawrence,, "Tillirigbourne;” Johnsonville, was married to Ronald William, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Stockdale, Wiltshire, England. Miss Connie Mills was. at the organ, and the church was artistically decorated by Miss .Steele. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of ivory crepe romanette, cut on uneven lines, and finished at one side with a large Julie bow and orange blossom. The embroidered tulle veil, which formed a train, was mounted on a cap of silver lace, finished with ear sprays of orange, blossom. An arm shower of roses, carnations, and maidenhair fern completed the ensemble. The bride’s sister, Alisa Clarice Lawrence, acted as. bridesmaid, and wore a frock of egg-shell blue mariette, with a silver tulle headdress; and carried a bouquet of roses to tone, sweet peas and maidenhair fern. Two little nieces of the bride, Jean and Eileen Lawrence, were flower girls, attired in-pale pink and green frilled crepe de chine, respectively, wearing silver lace caps, trimmed with vari-colqured ribbons, and carried, silver’■‘decorated baskets. Little Wilfred Mexted, nephew of the bride, acted' as train bearer. The bridegroom was attended by Mr, Rex Anketelle as best man, On leaving the church the bride was prsented with, horse-shoes by Lorna' Pattle.- Eileen Lawrence, and Wilfred Mexted. After the ceremony a reception was; held at the Parish Hall, where tin bride’s mother received the guests wearing a frock of moonlight blue mariette over beige silk, and blue lace coatee, with beige accessories to tone. After the supper dancipg was indulged in, and elocutionary and musical items were given by Miss Isa Macleay and Miss Kyra Jupp, respectively. The bride and bridegroom later left for the north, the bride travelling in an ensemble of blue crepe doria, relieved with lemon. Miss Caroline Myrtle Brannigan, daughter of Mrs. Brannigan, of Kuratawhitj Street, Greytown, was married to Mr, William Ernest Smith, of the Greytown Post Office staff, the marriage taking place’at St. Luke’s Afiglican Church, Greytown, on Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. D. J. Davies officiated. A breakfast was given at the Oddfellows’ Hall, when a large number of guests were present, and the usual toasts were given. AN AFTERNOON TEA Mrs. G. Magnus entertained at afternoon tea. members of the committee of the Pioneer Club yesterday; The : hostess received in the drawing-room, and later the guests repaired to the dining-room, where afternoon teg .and strawberries and ices were served. The . table .was decorated with blue, delphinium, and cornflowers, and.iu thq drawing-room were beautiful roses and peonies; The guests admired the fine view from the windows, which overlook the whole town and bay, and also the, garden, where the roses and carnations were particularly fine. A trellis of American Pillar rose, running right round the garden, made a fine splash Of brilliaht'pink. After tea had been partaken of, Mrs. Magnus presented Miss A. Kane (president, of. the club) with a basket of beautiful -rose?. Miss Kane, on behalf-of all the guests,' thanked Mrs. •Magnus for the delightful afternoon, and wished her and all members of the committee happy Christmas and joyful holidays.’ All joined in singing “For She’s a Jolly Good. The girls of the Y.W.C.A. Bluebird Chib were hostesses at a small children’s party at the Blue Triangle Hall yesterday afternoon.
