NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL MEETING A meeting of the council of the Clydesdale Horse Society of New Zealand was held in Invercargill last week, Mr. S. Fleming (Crookston) presiding over an attendance consisting of Messrs. R. Kennedy, J. W. Blair, D. G. Wright, J. A. Johnstone, T. Logan, J. H. Mitchell, J. Knight, A. Hunter, Dr. C. J. Reakes and the secretary (Mr. R. McCay). Dealing with a letter from the Minister of Agriculture to the effect that every effort would be made to have the Stallions Bill placed on the statutes, Dr. Reakes explained that this had not been possible during the recent session owing to the large amount of business before the Go vernment in .its first session, but he was very hopeful of the Bill, which had been drafted, going through next session. It was reported that the following horses had gained their veterinary certificates: —Acquire on account of A. M. McMillan (Waitahuna) ; Scotland Superb on account of John Lochie (Edendale) ; Cruncher, S try ver, Carluke, Pedlar, Tamineh, Morgiana, Maid of Perth and Ferangis on account of the Moore Hunter estate (Hawera) ; May Laurie and Windermere Proud Tira on account of J. Lowery (Tinwald) ; Sir Leslie, on account of John MqLean (Balclutha) ; Brilliant Youth on account of W. B. Campbell (Hastings). Import certificates were to hand for the following animals—Greenhill Again on account of Duncan McArthur (Yala*hurst) ; Sanguine and Craigadour on account of Charles McLean (Kelso),. Etta and Ishbel on account of B. Ferguson (Rangiora). , ... x ■ ■ The question of permission to rename animals already registered m the stud book was discussed. It was decided unanimously that such change of names be not granted.
