PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES (By “Aperture.”) Combined Hutt Club. The annual social and presentation of prizes of the combined Ladies' and Men’s Lower Hutt Miniature Hide Club, was held in the King George Dance Hall, Lower Hutt, on Wednesday, November 27. There was a good attendance, and all appeared to enjoy immensely the dancing and card games. The pretty frocks and the floral and other decorations of the hall gladdened the eye. The selection of dance numbers was an excellent one, and the music was very skilfully and rhythmically executed by Pascoe’s Gaiety Orchestra. Among those present were Sir Alexander and Lady Roberts; Mrs. August (president, Hutt Ladles’ Club)/Mrs. J. August, Mr, P. W. Congreve (president N.Z.M.R.A.), and Mrs. Congreve, Mr. O. Wannell (secretary N.Z. and W.M.K.A.). Prominent among city clubs was Brooklyn, which was well represented. Mr. E. J. Whitcombe (president, W.M.R.A.) and .Mrs. Whitcombe sent apologies for their unavoidable absence. Prizes were presented by Lady Roberts and by Sir Alexander Roberts, who expressed the grateful tranks of Lady Roberts and himself for the honour conferred upon them. In wishing the Hutt Club every possible success in the future, Sir Alexander's remarks were eulogistic and encourAging, "rhe' prize-winners were as follow:— A Grade—Club champion, P. B. Wilson (“Aperture”) was the recin lent of. a gold-mounted fountain-pen, suitably engraved, afJ a’ testitnonial of the Hutt Club’s appreciation of “Aperture s efforts devoted to the sport of miniature rifle shooting in general. Mr. Wilsop expressed his deep senst of gratitude, and acknowledged the co-operation and support of others. The gift would remind him not of his own efforts but 1 of their loyalty, 7 support, and good spirit—the spirit for further work—and .be a of friendship that is worth more than ~»ld. Petqne Toadies’ Club.
The annual social and presentation of trophies of the Petone-Ladles’ Club, took place on Saturday evening. November 23. in the Social Hall, Petone Working Men’s Club, when a very pleasant and an enjoyable evening was spent. There were about seventy members and friends present. ' During the evening novelty dances, Including Monte Carlo and spotlight, waltzes, were held, which met with great approval. The winners of the Monte Carlo dance were Mr. and Mrs. F. Broekelbank and Mrs. Porter and Mr. Alldridge: the spotlight waltz was won by Mr. and Miss B. Scott.- Supper arrangements were in the very capable bands ot the ladies' committee, Mesdaines Aitcheson. Jones. Scott, and Taylor, to whom much credit is due tor the success ot the evening. The Mayor, Mr. D. McKenzie, who presented the trophies, gave a very interesting and encouraging address, and congratulated the ladles for their zeal and interest in the sport. The music was contributed bv Mr. Pettit, and the duties ot M.C. were In the capable hands of Mr. A. Johnstone and Mr. J. C. Porter. Dancing was enjoyed to a late hour, when the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought one ot the most enjoyable and pleasant evenings to a close. The secretary intimated that she had torwarded, as directed by the alub. the sum of three guineas to Mrs. Fuller, formerly clul> captain, as a token ot appreciation for the services rendered by her during her term ot office. Presentations were also made by Mrs. Scott, on behalf of the ladies, to Miss Jones, captain. Miss Broekelbank. secretary .and Miss Pratley, treasurer. Their efforts in the Interests of the club were much appreciated.. Port Nicholson Ladles.
Members of the Wellington South and Harbour Board Clubs were the guests, of the Port Nicholson ladies at an evening, held on the Harbour Board range on Thursday, November 21. The early part of the evening was devoted to euchre, after which the prizes won by the ladles during the season were presented by their president, Mr. E. D. Alexander. On behalf of the visitors. Mr. Congreve thanked the ladles for the invitation to be present.
