WAIRARAPA WINTER SHOW
FARMERS’ UNION GIVES SUPPORT
Dominion Special Sekvici
Masterton, December 18.
A sympathetic hearing was given a deputation from the Wairarapa AVinter Show Association by members of the AVairarapa executive of the Farmers’ Union to-day when their support in connection with the Winter Show proposal was requested. Messrs. E. M. Hodder and H. M. Boddington formed the deputation, and in welcoming them the union president, Mr. C. C. Jackson, said he was sure farmers would be willing to assist the show committee to put on a show that would be 'a credit to the district. Mr. E. M. Hodder briefly outlined the objects of the association and stated that though only a small beginning had been made so far it was desirable that the proposed show should be a true winter one in fact as well as in name to accomplish which the assistance of farmers in the district was necessary. He quoted the Hawera Winter Show as one to the standard of which ultimately it was hoped to rise in the Wairarapa. Mr. Boddington in his remarks pointed out that financial assistance was not being sought—only moral and working support. It was most desirable that the venture should be a Wairarapa district one, and for that purpose he suggested that the union should appoint four members to act witlF the Winter Show Committee, -such members to be chosen from ns widely representative districts as possible. r, The union appointed Messrs. C. C. Jackson, J. M. James, A. H. Falloon and H. R. Rcnnel! to act on the show committee.
