BOXING
VICTORY FOR CARNERA DEINER IN DISTRESS IN SIXTH ROUND (Rec. December 18, 9.40 p.in.) London, December 17. The Italian, Primo Camera, who weighed half a pound over twenty stone, fought Diener, the German, who was six stone less, at the Albert Hall. Matt Wells refereed. The first four rounds were almost without incident. In the first Diener remained on the defensive, easily avoiding Carnera’s leads. In the second round Carnera landed an uppercut, while Diener scored three times. None did harm. In the third round ‘Camera kept cool, and took two hard punches in the stomach without flinching. The fourth round saw Diener looking tired. He slipped to his knees, Camera offering his hand gallantly. Camera continued to display a lack of boxing ability, and Diener scored twice to the ribs and once to the head. The referee warned Camera to keep his glove shut. In the fifth round Diener continued to be the cleverer, but Camera scored a tremendous left hook to the jaw and a right swing to the head. Diener heroically got clear. In the sixth round Diener took a terriffle right to the jaw and nearly dropped. Camera then rained punches until the referee intervened and declared Camera the winner.
